The problem with liberals departing to less-visible platforms - and this applies to much more than Twitter versus Blue Sky - is that it means the public space is occupied more and more by really awful voices.

Those bemoaning less left-leaning voices on Twitter need to wake up to the fact that - twitter is no longer a primary reliabe source [in any way] - the 'public space' is bigger than just twitter, and - they need to be less lazy and less reliant on a single source and start doing work to find voices.

I don’t think any type of public media space without liberals is a public space though. Any platform occupied primarily by conservatives invariably becomes a landfill, and everyone, including conservatives, knows this.

We should totally keep attending the lynchings, otherwise the only people at the lynchings will be the Klan... same vibe? The space isn't public. It is being used by and helps fund transphobic white nationalists. You can stay and be part of the problem... but don't blame us who left.

It’s the same basic controversy that surrounds “should liberals go on Fox News” and “should Jamelle Bouie quit the Times” and “should we all start substacks or write for publications.” Constantly for years, across the whole traditional and social media landscape, liberals are becoming less visible.

Okay, Will. You've convinced me. I'll go back to Twitter. That'll be $8 a month, please.
