I get really sick of people not taking it seriously here. You don't want it. Take it seriously. The whole "we don't have that here" is ancient nonsense.
If someone graduates astronaut training, and works out of the astronaut office for the next 15 years doing training and ground work and fulfilling on-ground duties to the programs, they're still astronauts in my mind. Any one of them could go up when needed.
I would say B for the following reason: If someone is fully trained, qualified, capable, and current to perform a specialized vocation or defined set of tasks, we recognize that. Someone is firefighter even when they're not fighting fire (or never do). They can be called upon to perform that duty
