Oh yeah, lots! A few times they came right up to the boat, seemingly curious (we always put engines in neutral or cut them when there’s whales within 100 yards)
There were a few that were extremely recognizable by the markings on their flukes - there was Crazy Tail who had a part of their fluke missing. There was also Morgan le Fay who had a perfect white dot on hers, and she was an unusual one! She's usually very active towards the end of the season.
I likely won't even finish them all, but I figure doing even one is better than none!
It was incredible. In the summer there are a ton of humpback whales, and in southcentral Alaska they do a cooperative method of feeding called bubble-net feeding. There was a good chunk of July where they did it nearly every day!
While I'll be using traditional ink for my drawings, you don't have to! You also don't need to do a drawing for every prompt, and you don't have to follow the 2-day blocks. No rules, just use this list as inspiration to make cool art!
