One way I see it is how people drive now. I have never, ever in my 15+ years driving seen people drive so erratically and not care for others around them. I had someone lane change in front of me without caring I was there. I slammed on the brakes so hard I heard my tires skid and brakes squeal

You may be conflating two issues. Vehicle design now doesn’t prioritize safety for other drivers. The sight lines on giant SUVs mean you don’t know what’s on the road around you.
