Dawn is approaching, enough light to see the street is flooded. Wind direction transitioning from East to due South. Rain lessening, wind increasing.

Progress lost threefold, that area has now a lot more water. Don't know the extent of it. Woke up to power loss and winds absolutely screaming, sustained 70-80 mph at times gusts over 90. Next couple hours rain should die down, but winds changing direction north to south with nastier gusts.

Back door successfully mopped up ahead of the biggest rain. Still astounded that the lights are still on, but I doubt they will be soon.

North eyewall approaching, one of two peak wind forecasts ahead.

Gusts approaching 80 now, power is on by some miracle (knock on wood). Door leak is untreatable right now but not a major concern yet.

On a lighthearted note, tall sabal palms are a good visual wind indicator, being all bendy and cyclone resilient. Looking outside and watching one right now. If she-a starts going sideways, no good!

Winds gusting harder and more often, wall near back door has a leak. Power still on (somehow). Not even the peak of this.

Normally I just kinda groan when people don't do it, maybe suggest they do it, but when people whine like come the fuck on. There are bigger problems in life, this should never be one of them.

First squall is overtop. Started out as rainless gales, now heavy downpours, consistent gales with gusts to 60 or so. Air pressure changes are tugging on some doors. Power is surprisingly still on, but I doubt for much longer.

Power expected to go out soon, gusts close to 60 and steadily increasing will be appearing shortly. Phone battery and bank to spare, will keep posted and perhaps document what I can. Otherwise, see you on the other side.
