My assumption has been that people adopted “on the spectrum” because there were a lot of folk who were told they had “Asperger’s” rather than autism, and we now understand 1) that’s a meaningless distinction, and 2) the really fucked up history of Asperger and how that diagnosis came to be

I honestly think the best outcome for U.S. politics is for the MAGA GOP to wither and die, the Democrats to finally embrace being the center-right party it so clearly wants to be, and a new left-leaning party to form out of the folk too left for the Dems. Unlikely I know, but a boy can dream
