In the days of TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly, I had a pretty good idea of what was coming out whether I cared or not. You had to physically page past the things you didn't care about to get to the ones you did. That gave people a decent peripheral awareness of the things they didn't care about.

But even in that context, the way that many streaming services will not even show you anything beyond your algorithm and a Top 10 (that may also be algorithm driven) means that it is quite possible to be literally unaware of what choices are available within the services you pay for. That's new.
