Filled out a survey today (that might be part of a published paper) and again had to report I've never had a #trans#lgbtq+ mentor, I'm the oldest trans person (that I know) in my field, that phobic legislation played a role in my being a nontraditional student, and more! 🏳️‍⚧️

I’m sorry you’ve had such a hard path. I see you and I accept you the way you are. I can’t be your mentor or inspiration but I am cheering you on from the sidelines.

I try to talk positively about my road to where I'm at, that I've been out as queer/pan and trans for a long time now, and that someone like me belongs in academia... but...the relity is it's been a very windy, twisty, non-existent path in the woods. That's the reality.
