Librarians are already asked to do too much, and if they're going to be asked to act like counselors, tech help, emergency services, day care, AND librarians, then every librarian should be leveraging that for both improvements at their job AND to society.
I'm happy to see libraries take the lead in emergency services in Asheville and disgusted they have to, frankly.
