Oh gosh, yes I have top end hearing loss too (in both ears but it's worse on the right). That's what prompted me to go back to my GP actually, after being told back in 2021 when my tinnitus started that there wasn't anything they could do about it!

I pass this tweet around occasionally and see a lot of light bulbs going off

That was my first too, and I had never seen or read, or knew anything about the plot of Phantom of the Opera. It wasn't until YEARS later that I realised that's what he was satirising, or even that anything was being satirised! It still works as a standalone 😊
