Was honestly kinda wondering when the ramp up of the games stuff would, well, aggressively ramp down when no one seemed to give the remotest shit.

Dead or Alive 2: Takashi Miike developed a reputation over here for being the most eXtReMe director ever, but I don't think anything could have prepared me for how downright sentimental he can be. This remarkably heartfelt "sequel" (it's not really linked to the first one) is testament to that

Jackass The Movie: I'm not kidding when I say that many of what I consider to be the all-time great cinematic moments come from this film/series. "Is butterbean ok"

Thief: another Mann film, where those involved seemingly said "let's make an extremely cool heist movie, but also make it about how bosses are awful and labouring for them is fucking death"

The Matrix: one of those ones where you look at every aspect of its stunning construction and think, "how the fuck did they make this back in 1999?! How does a film where characters wear *those* sunglasses still look this good?!" Against all odds, feels totally timeless.

Speaking of mad Pacino, Glengarry Glen Ross. Hard to think of a film with sharper dialogue. Surprisingly striking visual aesthetic too for something that, appropriately, looks like a stage play. One of those films I can watch and watch again and again and never get tired of

Cold take, but possibly the closest thing to a perfect movie ever made. Finished the audiobook for Heat 2 and I never thought I'd say this about such an odd concept (a novelisation of a prequel/sequel to Heat?!) but it is *unbelievably good*—deepening my appreciation of maybe my favourite film

I'll do the daft Bluesky thing for talking about films as well, sure.

I will legitimately never understand the sentiment that games are somehow boring now (other than, ya know, the fact that said talking point is basic grifter shite). There are vastly more options than ever. They're more exciting than ever. You're just not playing them

I've had a video about this in the works for ages, but while the industry has been absolutely fuckin brutal for the last while, purely looking at its output there's been so, so much creativity pouring out of every non-AAA sphere. So much so it's impossible to keep up with it all
