I am only human. My fingers are long and talon-tipped, venom-leaking and flesh-rending. I am only human. Through my veins runs a familiar ichor, leftover from my chrysalis and life-bringing. I am only human. My eyes, numerous and piercing, drift about me, staring, boring holes, spiraling with anxiety I am only human. From my back there sprouts tentacles, long and sucker-laden, reaching, grasping for… something far off, too far now. I am only human. My wings stretch wider than I am tall. From them rains fear and feathers, vengeance and within them there is protection. I am only human. I am only human, though you call me monster. I am only human, No matter what I see in the mirror. I am only human. I will defend those like me. I am only human. Why do you force me to fight? Dirt crawls up my many overlapping legs, connecting me to the Earth and to rot, bark-covered and sap-strewn, I am only human and my roots require nourishment.
