Once drivers get past the initial confusion over driving a roundabout, they realize they save time and keep traffic moving.

Agreed, cameras better than cops, but soft policing can lead to some pretty awful stuff too. Also, there are many, many traffic calming devices that are cheaper than policing, and reduce cowboy cop behavior. Half the racers in Boston are patrol officers late for lunch.
