im still pissed off by inability to *actually* self-host and distribute extensions without having them reviewed, approved, and signed by a centralized entity like mozilla i think developers should be allowed to distribute their extensions outside of 1 extension store per browser

people praised mozilla for having this self-hosting shit but guess what? they won't let you sign ANYTHING without their approval, just as i expected and gorhill experienced first hand:

yeah I was so fucking annoyed by that, my new browser is based of Firefox nightly and I thought oh I could just quickly sideload extensions like in chrome just to find out I need to sign in to Firefox and do like 10 minutes of work just to get my custom new page site to work is stupid

i'm honestly surprised that i've never seen anyone even attempt to make a vendor-neutral extension store, even if it would require some browser-specific hacks
