Grimmjow belongs to a village of predominantly mare-bodied centaurs, who focus on strength and battle; and who live by strict traditions and laws. One being, that when one loses to a stallion, one simply must do whatever necessary to make that stallion's blood make the lineages of their people grow stronger and stronger. Ichigo is nOT that type of taur, he'd like to think. He was simply passing by, unbeknownst to this village and to Grimmjow's sudden aggression toward him tresspassing their territory. If he'd known, he would've done everything to let Grimmjow win-- but what was he supposed to do?! Let himself become this giant's punching bag? Perhaps... that wouldn't have been so bad. If only he didn't have to look over his shoulder, afraid of when Grimmjow would flash him and present his rump to him next. There's only so much self-control one can maintain in... these situations.

Marrying Grimmjow is not the outcome he imagined when they first met; now he can't see himself having done anything else. So it shouldn't have surprised him to hear about his friends' engagement a few months after his wedding... but it did. Greatly. Now what didn't surprise him, at all, was the immediate impish grin that overcame Grimmjow's face. In the eternity that Halloween Town has existed, no royal had ever had such quiet and discreet wedding… but Rukia wasn't surprised. Ichigo and Grimmjow were rather closed off about their bussiness; as loud and obnoxious as they could be about everything else. She can't say she saw it coming, but the way those two had grown so close so quick clearly wasn't just a coincidence. As the young daughter of a noble family, she knew what was expected of her; despite all the fooling around and the fun times Ichigo and her had together as friends, she could've been tasked to marry him. And she would've complied if Ichigo had agreed. But now, with Grimmjow as the Prince's unlikely but quite fitting consort, that responsibility had released her to new opportunities. To consider things she wouldn't have dared to before, for her own sake. To be bold months later and ask Renji to marry her herself, when the bashful giant wouldn't take the hint.
