35. Spec Ops: The Line This demonstrates an incredible intertwining between gameplay and story, in some ways that I really haven't seen many games pull off since. This stands above and beyond many cover-based military shooters of the era.

Spec Ops: The Line - the logo is in the center. Behind the logo is the protagonist, Martin Walker, holding his assault rifle up in the air with one hand, while wearing a mask over his nose and mouth. Superimposed over him are scenery of him and his two squadmates walking the streets of Dubai, while helicopters carrying people hanging from them fly around. A sandstorm blazes on in the background, in the top-right corner.

36. Saints Row 2 I thought the first Saints Row was fine - it's decent. Saints Row 2 ended up blowing it out of the water in every way imaginable. It's rare for a game's story to skillfully weave serious and silly elements in a way that feels as effortless as this. Truly phenomenal sandbox game.

Saints Row 2 - the logo is in the center. A gang member (presumedly one of the Third Street Saints?) is facing away from the camera, dual-wielding SMGs. At the bottom of the image is someone standing behind a car, aiming a gun at the camera, as a helicopter flies overhead in a sprawling cityscape.
