I got this impression from the video too, FWIW. For all I know this is more of a boss rush than a platformer, but if more raw height is disruptive to your level design plans, you could also try a lil extra hang time at the apex, (coverable distance being the tradeoff)
Out of curiosity, is the palette any broader or brighter than would have been feasible on the Game Boy Color, or was the quality of those LCDs just washing my memory of things out a bit? I hear GBStudio can export to roms that are playable on original hardware if you have the right MicroSD cart?

Only child here that's too old for Mario Party to have existed before I was effectively an adult, but in hindsight I think playing more of something locally competitive and NOT purely skill-based like it might have resulted in someone with better tools for convincing others to play games with him.
