4/n ...not on rocks, but north Africa. And can we also see the tail end of Greece above his head? What then of the patterns, are these regions and what separation is being indicated by the varying colours? Perhaps someone studying #AncientGreek#Archeology finds this and finds it interesting...

3/n ...the orientation of, what I see as, Crete in the fresco. As far as I can tell this is not an observation previously been made and if it is Crete, from what I've been able to find, would predate known maps by some considerable margin. If it is indeed Crete, could the monkey be climbing...

2/n ..version. In each there is what appears to be a floating piece of rock. However, to my eye at least, this looked to be a crude map of Crete, as I could imagine being produced without more accurate instruments. Clearer in the restored version, I've rotated a modern map of Crete to reflect...

1/n I'm putting this out here as I'm unsure of what else to do with it. I was recently in Crete and visited #knossos#fresco, I later learned was referred to as Blue Monkey on Rocks, caught my eye. The original I understand is in the museum of Herakleion and the one at site is a restored..

Quite sad the enjoyment I get from watching the live lightning map. None where I am so much enjoy from a distance. It must be intense right now in Thrapston!
