On a trip to the southwest years ago we visited Meteor Crater and Sunset Crater on the same day ... we now refer to it as "Crater Day!"

Crater Lake should actually be called Caldera Lake, given that it's the remains of a massive volcano that exploded 10,000 years ago (or it might have been less. But there was almost certainly ancient indigenous humans nearby to have witnessed it.
Wait, I've lived within spitting distance of the Chesapeake Bay for the last five decades and considered myself fairly erudite and quite the science enthusiast; how is it just NOW that I'm finding out there's an ancient impact crater at its mouth?
