Can’t wait to dismantle my entire office to try to remember what I considered a “safe place” to put my passport a year ago!!!!!!!!
try to recall last year, what was the last time you saw it? were there anyone traveling with you that can recall where did you put your passport?

this is going to sound insane, but have you tried calling it? a roommate drove me nuts with this bc it frequently worked. pick up your phone, pretend to call your passport, and walk around phone to ear waiting for it to pick up while looking for it. rubber duck troubleshooting of finding shit
If it was me, I would keep trying the safe, but only as a last resort, because the safe is extremely difficult to access. It will not be in the safe.
I bought a safe for id documents after this happened like twenty times thinking I was real smart but I bought the kind of safe with a key so now I mostly spend my time looking for that
no one will look in the fridge. back of toilet too (in water safe compartment)
Can relate! Like I have a place for me and the kids passports but once every several month I just get it into my head to go there and check so that they are all there( esp since my kids have 3 passports).
oh no... reminds me of the dedication in Howl's Moving Castle: "The idea for this book was suggested by a boy in a school I was visiting, who asked me to write a book called The Moving Castle. I wrote down his name, and put it in such a safe place, that I have been unable to find it ever since."
