I was so proud of myself at the gym. On the leg press, some of the tall, beefy north German men only lift 20 kg more than I do. Then the young woman who appeared today loaded up well more than double what I'm up to!! Though she's clearly been at this a while and I only started in May.

Mostly I beat myself up because I'm so slow at this. But then it occurs to me that book proposals are longer than several seriously significant books (like The Metamorphosis) and need to be just as genius. #amwriting#amquerying

I'd say "We aim to please," but my brain always finishes that with "so you aim too, please", which was a phrase a friend of my mother's had hand embroidered and hung in her guest bathroom.

It's super fuzzy thistle time of year.

It has finally hit me that if I don't want it to get grazed down by slugs, I gotta put it in a hanging basket. Maybe that helps against deer, too.

My driveway is always a wretched hive of grass, moss, liverworts, and dandelions, no matter how hard I try to keep it clean. I do like the liverworts, though.

Grey driveway bricks laid out in a basic geometrical pattern outlined by all the messy green stuff growing in between each brick.

A slightly bigger but still sweet looking liverwort

Finally got around to looking at photos from May, when we visited Potsdam. They had great graffiti and also vending machines for art.

A friendly green tea kettle dances a jig
A crazy face with spiky blue hair, a blue unibrow, bugged out eyes, and blue saliva dripping out of its freaked out mouth
For just a couple of euros you can get from this vending machine art of local Potsdam sights, the coast and ocean, regional art, or art for love.
