Should you happen to find yourself in New York on Aug 8, come hear me do a reading! www.eventbrite.com/e/the-analog...
I had a delightful conversation with @xtinadlr.bsky.social@solarpunkpresents.bsky.socialwww.youtube.com/watch?v=RIz3...
Join us for the final interview of this season, as we talk with Michael DeLuca, publisher of Reckoning, a yearly journal of creative writing on environmental justice, and author of The Jaguar Mask. Michael, impressed by the creative uses of cast off technology in the Global South, would like us to also adopt old tech. He recommends that we follow their lead and adapt old tech to suit our needs, as well as find creative new uses for old tech. We should do better than just be passive consumers of the tech that is sold to us more to the needs and convenience of the companies that produce it than to ours. You can follow Michael via his website (mossyskull.com), Mastodon (@MichaelJDeLuca@climatejustice.social), and Bluesky and X (@michaeljdeluca). Here are some links relevant to our discussion......about the hand-cranked laptop...concerning the (reindeer) who ate all the food on the island...regarding a degrowth strategy to reach net zero carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere
I was so proud of myself at the gym. On the leg press, some of the tall, beefy north German men only lift 20 kg more than I do. Then the young woman who appeared today loaded up well more than double what I'm up to!! Though she's clearly been at this a while and I only started in May.
Mostly I beat myself up because I'm so slow at this. But then it occurs to me that book proposals are longer than several seriously significant books (like The Metamorphosis) and need to be just as genius. #amwriting#amquerying
I'd say "We aim to please," but my brain always finishes that with "so you aim too, please", which was a phrase a friend of my mother's had hand embroidered and hung in her guest bathroom.
I think you just made my day.
It has finally hit me that if I don't want it to get grazed down by slugs, I gotta put it in a hanging basket. Maybe that helps against deer, too.
My driveway is always a wretched hive of grass, moss, liverworts, and dandelions, no matter how hard I try to keep it clean. I do like the liverworts, though.
Finally got around to looking at photos from May, when we visited Potsdam. They had great graffiti and also vending machines for art.
