Ick! Would not recommend moving here, most of the year is ok since the sea breezes blow smog etc inland but every once in a while a fire up towards Santa Barbara or the like blows particulates our way and turns the sky orange for a few days.
Meanwhile I'm down in Marina del Rey (LA), also RoF though no volcanoes at least, just earthquakes, the odd tornado, tsunami, fires local and smoke from the north west whence come our sea breezes.....

In case anybody's interested, to catch follow beastie by sound, chase it up a wall and catch it as it falls down. Put other hand on top and take it to where you want a cricket and release.
Saving grace of my hearing slowly going is that I can no longer hear cricket chirps unaided. :) My mate now gets to catch and evict them from the bedroom if needed. 1/2
