This $13b Houston highway expansion—equivalent to 3 yrs of all fed funding for transit expansion—will destroy >1000 homes, including 483 low-income units, plus 5 places of worship, 2 schools & hundreds of businesses. Plus! It will worsen pollution & reduce local tax revenue.

Literally nothing about this makes sense. The amount of money that's been wasted solely on making our earth less inhabitable is truly incredible.
This is US transportation policy at its finest: Getting a wide array of state & local policymakers to support spending huge amounts of money for a project that will worsen the environment, displace poor people, reduce local tax revenues, & do nothing about improving mobility.
He is mayor of the suburbs and supporter of the developers. He could not care less about anyone inside the loop.
The Bob Moses in me respects their commitment to getting stuff built. The project does not sound all that great though.
