Probably not your imagination. I bought my husba6 the cheapest protector available for one phone, something like $6 for 3, and it caused great pain. Before that, I didn't believe in price differentiation. Only one way to find out. FWIW, bare glass from 2022-3 does seem better than 2018ish.

Mine somehow has dust or something under the screen cover and keeps doing that and I have just not felt like fighting it open.
