Akane And let's do our first double up from the same series by including her not-girlfriend. Of course, getting into psychoanalysis so you can understand other girls' minds better is pretty gay in my book. Also she's down to kill people. All told, a dangerously peak character.
Kana Moving away from witches for now, I like a lot of idol characters but Kana might be my favorite. Burned out child prodigy turned bitchy smug knowitall who tries to still be a professional when the time comes to work. She compels me. In my dreams her, Akane, and Aqua are in a nightmare polycule
Sucy She's a vibe, she's an aesthetic, she's literally the best to ever do it. In an earlier iteration of my online life I almost exclusively used Sucy avatars and can you really blame me? The ultimate witch as goth girl, resident of a thousand powerful gifs. She's me, I'm her.
Ayaka I don't have a terribly deep reason for liking Ayaka, but she's from an anime that's a ton of fun, is a complete sweetheart to her boywife, and commands a vast array of fire spells. Definitely a list-topper in the "what anime character would you most want to be?" category.
Beatrice Let's go on a run of witches here, why not? Beatrice girlbosses up and down the entirety of Umineko and also has a backstory that manages to make her genuinely sympathetic. Also, amazing voice acting. What will you do about her placement on this list Ushiromiya BATTLERRRRRRR?
Yuuko The mysterious Witch of Dimensions from xxxHolic and by extension the CLAMP multiverse. She's gorgeous, stylish, wiser than anybody, and imparts sinister moral lessons to people. What, really, is not to love? One of the best to ever do it.
Kino, from Kino's Journey. I am not sure that this one requires much in the way of explanation. Subtly yet deftly portrayed, effortlessly cool, extremely Gender. Kino is Kino is Kino.
I guess in this analogy the saved data is people you knew on Twitter?
Ginka I'm in the headspace of "magical girls I really like from like low 7/10 anime" right now, so another for the "I just think she's neat" column is Ginka, the wielder of the Judgement tarot, from Day Break Illusion
Juna Earth Maiden Arjuna's not my favorite magical girl series (although I do like it), but Juna is probably the most effective realization of the whole "magical girl-as-shaman" idea, and I really think that's super compelling. Unfortunately she's a republican, so minus points for that.
