A biblical event is divine, a catastrophic exercise of power over humanity, an act of punishment. Appalachia’s “biblical” destruction echos the US Army Corps of Engineers declaration that Hurricane Katrina—which killed 1,392 people, most of them Black and working class—was an “Act of God.” 2/?
Murphy wiffs a stab at the ball to give up a PK lol He gave up a terrible ball at midfield earlier too. No shade towards Murphy this just isn’t his night. It’s tragic that Miazga has to miss the playoffs again. He is as important as Acosta.
No doubt Kubo has stepped up this season. Which has been huge because Vazquez was a huge loss for them this year.
Anyway thanks for following—glad you’re here! For many years I was one of the few killjoys saying these kinds of things about tech & power, but now the tide’s turned, & a lot of people are critical of technologies being sold to us on the basis they can somehow create a utopia (cough, generative AI)🫠
(2/4) basically, I’ve been interested since the late 20th century and the first dot-com bubble in looking at how technology can alter, but often just strengthens, some of the most regressive power structures in society, all while being hailed as “revolutionary” and greeted with great optimism.

The fact that there was a bomb threat at Springfield, Ohio's City Hall this morning should communicate that this is not a laughing matter. Nazis marched through Springfield's downtown last month. People are being whipped into a violent frenzy over right-wing hoaxes amplified by Nazi influencers.
"Harris could not condemn what she aims to mold and weaponize for her own purposes."
And it's why racism isn't mere distraction but has a material reality that exposes its targets to premature death.
I was honestly worried that she wouldn't push back on this subject. I'm guessing it's because she wants to seem tough on immigration and not be characterized as a defender of immigrants.
A reminder that in Japan, Pikmin 4's launch day sales outsold 1.5 months of sales of Final Fantasy 16, a major mainline Final Fantasy title synonymous with the Playstation brand. Ten years ago you'd be insane to suggest such a thing was possible. Sony needs more people to afford consoles, not less!
