One interesting point of note is that Unity has replaced nearly its entire leadership team following the announcement and cancellation of the controversial runtime fee policy. Leadership team from June 2023 on the left. Leadership team from today on the right.
Shoutout to Armina Gupta?
I checked the removed names out of curiosity. Tomer Bar-Zeev is still on their board, but now works at a subsidiary. According to LinkedIn, Luc Barthelet, Jessica Lindl, and Carol Carpenter (until December) are still at Unity. Still a bunch of new names regardless.
Good news, finally.
To be fair, they did irreparably damage trust with the most important part of their community. I do hope that soon a AA studio launches something in Godot, because a successful AA Godot game might encourage AAA to take the jump.
They almost ruined all work done constructing a healthy and trustworthy relationship with it’s consumers. Glad they changed the leadership.
Man if only every other corporation worked like this
That's crazy. Losing one person is a given but you know things are bad when the whole leadership is replaced.
As it should be
