We had a good 72 hours of delirious media coverage when it looked like a hurricane was going to make landfall in California. A 4.8 in a region filled with unreinforced brick high-rises merits a bit of excitement.

There does exist a distinct focus on what occurs on East Coast vs West. Massive wildfires here have gotten far less coverage than 🇨🇦 smoke drifting down into the eastern side of the Rockies. I don’t begrudge the response to such a rare quake, but nat’l news does fail the west coast often.
