I don't think that's totally true (see: folks that only play Catan) but I get your drift. People who are jazzed about systems in the way that boardgamers are become GMs. It's not a flaw, it's just how participation works.
There's a new game cafe opening in my local town and I'm so fired up for it. Finding boardgamers is the first step to finding TTRPGamers, which is a damned difficult thing in one of the least populated areas of England.

It’s pretty bad in my country. The old FLGSs become Magic shops that mostly just support D&D. Even boardgamers gravitate to finding other spaces to play.

Played a game on the excellent site BoardGameArena. Was looking a little more into it. Turns out that they have extensively used AI artwork. Imagine how heated this is going to be for a thread to get locked at a website by and for nerdy boardgamers. I'm making an extra cup of coffee. (2/2)
