You're right and you're right to say it.
I would petition folks to wait until the year is actually over. There will still be plenty of time! Folks who publish things in November and December don't have to feel like they have no chance to get noticed! Plus, you have the holiday season to make your cute graphics or whatever.

I read The Hunger Games in a single afternoon in the cockpit of my boat at anchor while waiting out a storm. The sense of having absolutely nothing I could do and nowhere to go, while being safe where I was (it was a lovely anchorage) was a singular experience.
