Median C++ programmer finds out there is a storage hierarchy

Mike Action making a favourite point in his keynote(?) at CppCon 201: "Data-Oriented Design and C++".

He is in a rather good Hawaiian shirt, a dark orange with white print pattern; he is wearing practical rectangular nerdy glasses; he is bearded with "young dad" level hair; kind of bear-shaped, and he's sweating under the lights and his frenetic movement during the talk. He's brightly lit in front of very dark curtains.

The quote from a slide about to be shown, reads: "Software does not run in a magic fairy aether powered by the fevered dreams of CS PhDs."

Screenshot of a YouTube player showing "When Nanoseconds Matter: Ultrafast Trading Systems in C++". The slide is titled "Urban food supply, military campaign... and festivals!" and has a picture of CIRCVS MAXIMUS

Enjoy retirement! I still refer back to your post laying out how we should talk about performance improvements as software engineers. It was great to meet you many moons ago at CppCon!

The wait is over. Here you go: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpji... Beware: I left CppCon slightly damaged after seeing that. Consider yourself warned 😄
