Word puzzles, puzzles, writing, crafts. BBQ is just ok. Sparkling drinks have limited appeal. More human when productive. Not fond of musicals. Blech to Candy Corn. I’m often just tired. I’m normal (for me) 🤪

Toddler and Pit Bull. Toddler and Pit Bull both sit at a bar with drinks in hand. Pit bull says "she's taking the kids in the divorce..." Toddler puts his hand on pit bull's shoulder and says "that's fucked up man." The extremely worried bartender says "neither of you can be in here!!! Who served you drinks?"

I think these two images from the supplementary material show the impact the clearest. The first shows the big increase in drinks that have less than 5g sugar per 100mL (the threshold for the tax). The second shows that most of those drinks that reduced sugar opted for about 4.9g sugar per 100mL.

Image from Scarborough et al., PLoS Med, 2020;17(2):e1003025, supplementary material. Title reads: "Fig B Trends in the proportion of intervention (eligible) and control (exempt) drinks over each levy threshold". Two figures are shown, each with 'proportion of soft drinks' on the y-axis, and 'Month' on the x-axis. The 'eligible drinks' figure, on the left, shows a big increase in drinks with less than 5g sugar per 100mL (in green) and a big decrease in those with more than 8g sugar per 100mL (in red). The right graph for exempt drinks shows no change over time.
Image from Scarborough et al., PLoS Med, 2020;17(2):e1003025, supplementary material. The title reads "Fig G Sugar levels (g per 100mL) in observations of drinks prior to the announcement of the SDIL and post-implementation of the SDIL. Underneath are two histograms. Both with 'density' (i.e. proportion of observations) on the y-axis and 'Sugar (g per 100mL) on the x-axis. On the left is the histogram for drinks before the announcement of the SDIL. There is a large spike at zero (for diet drinks) and then a fairly even distribution of drinks across all other sugar levels. In the histogram on the right (for sugar levels in drinks after implementation of the SDIL), there is still the spike at zero, but now there is a second spike at about 4.9g sugar per 100mL (just below the threshold for the levy)
