I’ve been to most of these places and…idk, dude…with the exception of South Pas and Emeryville (both very expensive re markets) most of these places are kind of remote and/or depressing. To each his own i guess. www.latimes.com/california/s...

Yesterday, a Brown Pelican was standing over a small group of Ring-billed Gulls. To the far right of the photo, and in the air are two Elegant Terns (fairly certain from photos of both the gulls and the terns in flight). Location is San Francisco Bay in Emeryville, California. #Birds#nature

Brown Pelican with gray feathers, white head and neck, orange beak. There is a group of Ring-billed Gulls next to him with gray wings and orange beaks that look like they were dipped in ink at the tips. To the far right, there is an Elegant Tern and the bird taking flight is an Elegant Tern (fairly certain from photos of both the gulls and the terns in flight).

We started on the Empire Builder, Chicago to Vancouver, WA. Explored that state, then took another train to Eugene, Oregon, and explored the coastline there a while, then another train to Emeryville where we caught the Zephyr. It's been a month of trains!

I was on the edge of whether or not I would go to BLFC for the past few months and now I can confidently say that I'm cutting my losses and won't be going sadly It's a shame since I bought these tickets on sale too

The Amtrak route I would have taken from Emeryville to Reno of the first day of the con and the reverse for the last day.

It's in Emeryville, right across the Bay from San Francisco. There is direct access to the Golden Gate strait and Pacific Ocean. The Elegant Terns plunge dive for food, usually in open ocean. I read that in October they usually migrate South from CA to Mexico and other southern, coastal areas.

It's the only time I need to lock up a bike for several hours at a time (and the Emeryville Mall has bad bike parking).

Checking just now it does seem as though there is a new station at the Emeryville AMC, which was a huge missing link earlier, and my main use case for riding bikeshare.

I'm in Emeryville, on the little peninsula that sticks out into the bay next to the Bay Bridge. It is 103° right now and I face the water and it is just across the street. Not seeing any fog over SF yet. We'll just have to think cool thoughts and drink plenty of fluids.
