@TheEconomist: Japan’s cartoons now claims more fans outside the country than within it. Some estimate that around 800m people globally are animated about anime 👇
We had a storm last night at 8PM and we have no power ever since. They're giving us the estimate that things will be fixed by MONDAY? 😭
I have an estimate of power being restored by Thursday! 😖 Can't work. Keeping fuel in the generator is going to break me! Where's the financial help for Americans dealing with this?!
I talked yesterday about once being able to stand down an armed robbery because I was armed as well. So there is your first armed standoff...the US Bureau of Justice Statistics estimates guns are used successfully in self defense 115,000 times/year, and that is the lowest estimate out there.

Furthermore, the company won't explain how their AI works because "proprietary." This is what kills me! People act like AI is magic, or computer adaptive tests are magic. THEY PATENTLY ARE NOT! These are programmed by humans and have human fucking biases! 🧵
My career (in terms of earnings, opportunities, etc) isn't at its peak still - I estimate I'm at 25-30% currently, many of you remember 5% days - but my health has recovered a lot. if anything, it's overcoming how being older has changed my body and I need to do things differently.
Just to point out, the bulk ($5.7 trln) of the IMF’s confusing estimate of global “fossil fuel subsidies” are actually their estimate of under-priced externalities. And of that number, $1.2 trln are “vehicle externalities”, such as traffic congestion, and would be just as large if all 🚗s were EVs.
So at a super rough estimate, ads cause 1-2% of US emissions. That only accounts for emissions associated with making the extra stuff ads convince people to buy, but of course a lot of the stuff we buy (e.g. cars) also emits when we operate or use it. Not sure how to ballpark-estimate that portion.
