The heart of the rpg is supposed to be a combination of battle and story. I seriously have no idea what falcom is trying to do. They seriously developed the most interesting turn based battle system and then just decided to, uh, ignore it

This was my first Falcom game and it's the one I always point to as an example of their "house style", rock solid RPG mechanics that are never too basic or too complicated and a well paced campaign that explores all the potential of its systems. I see aspects of it in Ys, Nayuta, and even Kiseki.
