Let's start with one of my favorites: Braid is a puzzle-platform game with beautiful visuals and soundtrack. The theme here is time-manipulation which, along the obvious gameplay mechanics, is also presented with a nice open-ended story. It was one of the first indie games I played and I love it.

the answer is they look like that to trick you in the first game into trying to loot but then engaging a fight with something that will blow up and take out one of your team. they exist for gameplay reasons and the ppl of that world have to live with never knowing the real answer
SPEAKING OF deceptively simple gameplay refined to an insane level of polish! this game & the one before it (as well as the Flash original) rule! not quite the kinda game you get excited to play, but theyre just such "pure", zeN-like experiences with great aesthetics and a lotta content to go around

龍が如くStudio making a game to appeal to a global audience sounds like a misfire, but it comes out like a 90s OVA with the gameplay of an incredibly tightly designed shooter. It’s only known for the shit voice talk gimmick, which is a shame cause it’s a real good “AA” level release.
