Someone said GxK is the closest we've gotten to a real live action Dragon Ball Z movie, and they're not wrong.

Kong spends GxK “leveling up” (getting experience points, magic items, etc.) but Godzilla spends GxK making like a Saiyan in a Hyperbolic Time Chamber

And not to go too deep into GxK but it stays consistent on that story point. Whenever Kong gets an advantage for a second, something ELSE has to bail him out from being immediately killed by the annoyed Godzilla’s reaction!

I liked GxK almost as much as KotM. Skull Island is wildly underrated: Great cast and an interesting story. Godzilla had some well done shots and an underwhelming human cast, while GvK tried to do too much with its story. But I love them all.

Note also that there is real destruction made by that choice. Godzilla’s home—his literal TEMPLE—is obliterated, and this actually plays into what he’s up to in GxK.

After GxK, this is my second favorite. Dumb fun, but still fun.
