NASA just turned off Voyager 2's plasma science instrument to save power. That means four experiments are still running, 47 years after the probe was launched. Uranus, Neptune, and the interstellar mission are all additions to the original mission plan. JPL built them to last.

The mission has been working to postpone the shut-off as long as possible. Four other instruments aboard the interstellar spacecraft continue to operate.
