Since in the USA we aren’t supposed to have extrajudicial killings, these clowns get due process. Unfortunately they rarely get convicted, since they have sympathizers among the witnesses, juries, and sometimes even the prosecution or judges. Many botched cases leading to mistrials & acquittals.
Things kicking off in True Crime World with three major cases going to trial this week "Suitcase" Sarah Boon, the Delphi case, and Leilani Simon are on. The first 2 are picking juries, 3rd started opening statements. I'm mostly following the Boon case because the other 2 are child murder cases
Juries bring together all walks of life, and Cosmo ensures his speeches speak to everyone. Here we are very lucky to see him practicing his unbeatable 5 part structure (1) Bark (2) Woof Woof (3) Growl (4) Treats? & (5) Bark again. Juries often lack the knowledge to critically evaluate forensic evidence, which is exacerbated by overconfident (and arrogant) expert witnesses and the prosecutor's fallacy. Great piece by David Robert Grimes. #stats

TikTok is addictive in the same way that potato chips are addictive. (in my completely non-medical opinion.) Fun, habit forming, hard to stop once you start, but not exactly life-ruining. This is such a silly lawsuit, but these days, there have been some pretty silly judges and juries, so…
If one party can organise all the fake news, court cases, juries, judges, evidence, trial outcomes and be nasty to their opponents, they're the ones to support!
Column #838: Juries selected at random from voter registration lists are structurally about as consistent with the principle of self-government as anything else we do in practical civic life. issues.eveningpostandmail.com/p/beyond-a-r...
On drug-related charges, Martha Stewart, and what a jury conviction really means
That’s part of it, sure— and that’s why appellate jurisdiction can be so consequential. Juries make mistakes, it’s true. But you couldn’t have jury nullification with juries, either, and that’s an important part of the system too, even if under-used.
I asked and people delivered. There are many good* pets in the replies * Good is a limited time offer. Some stand accused of various pet crimes and are awaiting trial by juries of their equally bitey peers
