Since we lack a written record, and they were not so much into leaving images of various activities I would say it is unlikely. But it is prevalent in at least some primate lineages, as has been pointed out. And I also think that one would have to do it *a lot* for it to cause anatomical changes.

This is true for any ethnic identity, too. That's why the 23-and-Me crowd always worries me. Identity is a cultural commitment, not a genetic lineage. Besides, genetic lineages are arbitrary. We always decide what to include or exclude in these things.
