A rare visit to Rainham Marsh today. 3 Great Egret & a high tide roost of 53 Blackwit, 9 Curlew. A dozen Swallow knocking around, a late Reed Warbler. Wildfowl numbers building slowly with increasing numbers of Teal, Wigeon & Pintail + 2 rather smart male Cape Shelduck #londonbirds#UKBirding

At least 2 whinchat and 4 stonechat today on Walthamstow Marsh. I didn't get any photos so I asked chatgpt to help. Pretty good male stonechat, but its attempt at a whinchat looks like a cross between a female stonechat and a meadow pipit. #LondonBirds#BirdsArentReal.

Never seen a red kite over my part of London before! Travel zone 2 and about a mile from the congestion charge boundary so really quite central. It was mobbing, and being mobbed by, a single crow over my local park. #LondonBirds 🪶

A red kite soars against a blue sky. It is coming towards the end of the summer moult and the distinctive forked “V” of the tail is somewhat ragged. The picture is of low quality but the pale head and large white patches on the underwings are clearly visible.

My baby girl eventually fell asleep and let me observe this quality patch bird, Tree Pipit. Patch tick for me and my little London local nature reserve, WaterWorks NR. ebird.org/checklist/S1..#ukbirding#birds#londonbirds

Highlights from Walthamstow marsh this morning were a Tree Pipit on the deck and, in lieu of the hoped for wryneck, an anti racist takeover of the local cruising spot. #londonbirds
