Seems the theme of #MathsToday is complex numbers...get real, people!
In Complex Numbers today, we showed (directly) that multiplication by a complex number corresponds to scaling by its length and rotating by the angle it makes with the real axis. #MathsToday#ALevelMaths#UKMathsChat#ITeachMaths
Factor Caterpillars in #MathsToday with my Monday Y8 group.I set '6' as the Extra Challenge, just to see their reaction! Also showed them what hapens to 220, but I think it went a little over them!
#Mathstoday we proved the cosine and sine rule. Y10 mic drop moment
#mathstoday#alevelmaths discussed with my y13, following an assessment, appropriate answers to the "Why might this assumption not be valid?" And "is this conclusion valid?" Answers like "the government aren't going to lie" "the flowers might be dead" are probably not going to get marks...
In #mathstoday I got to introduce one of my favourite topics - complex numbers. Then we got to realise the denominator. Which I love doing
In #MathsToday y9 percentages meant I could use ratio tables ๐ (I also continued algebra tiles with y8 but I don't want to sound like a broken record!) Pretty good day on the whole ๐
