Another tv update! Just watched the first ep of Matlock. It starts off as a standard courtroom drama. A case of the week, tearful confessions, hotheaded young lawyers, etc. But the last couple minutes had me audibly gasping. I'm hooked!

When I was an 8th grader, my parents fought each other in a cruel and deeply stupid custody battle. I missed 3 days of school for every court appearance because of terrible anxiety. I watched A LOT of Matlock during those days. Matlock (2024) is Good. Like @johnrogers.bsky.social's Leverage Good.

So I watched the new Matlock pilot on Paramount + because Kathy Bates. But wtf, the pilot gives the entire game away right off the bat.

Oh, the new #Matlock is GÜDT. Obviously, it’s entertaining as hell and Kathy Bates is a hoot. Have you met her? She’s practically an owl. Nothing but hoots. My jaw dropped at the end of the premiere.
