Found myself in a spiritual supermarket (tchotchkes for every new age belief imaginable!!) in a hippie mountain town yesterday and overheard (not hard; he was practically yelling) a guy say he was prepping a business plan for “a way to use AI to generate personalized guided meditations” 🙄🙄🙄🙄

I love Burkeman! His book "Four Thousand Weeks..." and newsletter have been a game-changer for me. I'm trying to soak up "Meditations" as a daily exercise also.

To my surprise, once I joined the team, many questionable behaviors and organizational processes surfaced, including prioritizing website and smartphone app development over outreach and relationship building for the meditation community. As I managed the website, I found over 2000+ ignored support emails from members, the Founder's penthouse as the landing page of the meditation website, the Founder's world tour photos on the website that did not include any international community outreach, among other disheartening observations. During my time with the organization, I honored requests to contribute everything under the sun that was not outlined in my contract, was ignored several times when requesting to review the contract, and was asked to mentor a "top" PhD student that was not receiving adequate mentorship and did not understand the basics of experimental design or NCCIH controls and guidelines for meditation and integrative medicine. When it became apparent that I would not blindly follow the low integrity procedures of this organization, the Founder terminated my role due to "COVID budget cuts" and promptly deactivated my student account without notice or alternate compensation, an account which was >$25k compensation for approved and delivered work, while attempting to secure IP for course development. I immediately terminated my agreement to contribute crystallography or spiritual science courses and am very grateful to not support or affiliate with this organization. But once I became a student this was a different story. During the process of me signing up everyone was so hopefully positive and I could always reach someone. Once I started the program, I notice how unorganized the lesson plans were. I tried to reach out to someone for help several times via email and phone. The first problem that I had is when I called you could only speak with the front desk. After waiting and waiting they would tell me no one is in yet. ( Which they should have known)They would then take a message and say someone will get back to you, but they never did. While I was at work I would keep calling on my lunch break trying to get someone. The few times that I did get a chance to speak to someone they tried to make it seem like I don't understand anything. I had other people look into my issue and they saw the same problems. I am very upset and the amount of money I have spent I feel things should be a lot smoother. Please do not enroll here it's all games. I do not recommend this program. Please do not waste your money.

Almost quiet now the storm has cleared and the wind has abated. Standing undisturbed. Broken thoughts blurring the distant horizon. Silent meditations of past wanderings minutely glimpsed, now so very far away. The bonfire flaring as I stare across a hundred yards, a dozen years.
