Well Marvel can just use "Marvels". DC...back to Metahumans?
At times it gets very strained in the comics because they come up with stuff like, "Metahumans," to explain super heroes. During Civil War in Marvel Comics they used the term, "adventurers," which makes the Hulk sound like he's Indiana Jones (which he now is in the movies).
I found it wild that they got to dicrate how everyone else used the word but they didn't even use it. They were calling their characters metahumans and weird crap.
I created him for a deconstruction story, but I think I'd enjoy a played-straight comic about him, an enthusiastic superhero fanboy who only has the power to copy other metahumans' powers. His power means he can variously be really powerful or just a guy.
In my world, human evolution is far more divergent, but difficulties in accepting the full range of human possibility have lead to the ostracism of metahumans, more pejoratively termed “monsters.” However, there have always been people who seek to bridge that gap!
Once Human has its issues... but its claws are so deep in me. There was lore about metahumans assimilating with deviations to use their power before the invention of cradles... so of course I'm in the trenches of Dan fusing with the Lonewolf's Whisper and dealing with the repercussions.
