Whenever discussions of nonviolence come up, I have to remind myself that nonresistance and nonviolence are different things and also that I don't know if I agree with either.

I mean to be fair at the "Old" (not Old Order, but Old as in not a newfangled schism group) Mennonite Church high school I attended we were encouraged to think through what nonresistance meant to us and what we thought was appropriate in terms of self-defense etc.
This episode has someone (not Mennonite) explaining that "Mennonites practice nonresistance because they believe if it's God's will that they be harmed, it's God's will". Which it's actually because of Matthew 5:39 where Jesus says, "Do not resist one who is evil". It's a lot to hang on one verse.
