Mendel looked at seven different traits, most famously pea color and shape, and always crossed two plants with different traits. He found that some traits disappeared in the first generation after crossing, but then reappeared in the following. #PlantGenetics#PeaGenetics

The seven traits Mendel looked at: Yellow versus green cotyledons, seed coat and flower color, tall versus dwarf plants, difference in the form of the ripe pods, difference in the position of the flower, round versus wrinkled seed, and colour of unripe pod.

🔬The article contributes to the understanding of dogrose meiosis and to a broader plant genetics knowledge, probably impacting plant breeding and genetic manipulation efforts. (8/8)  👉 botany.fyi/ke81UK#PlantGenetics#PlantScience

Fascinating insights from Andreas Houben's (Leibniz IPK) talk yesterday 🌳 The key message? We've barely scratched the surface of centromere biology. Time to explore non-model species! -->PlantGenetics 🌿🧬
