The thing about the NYT wanting trump to win isn't so much about individual articles, which this one is...fine i guess, it's about the editorial influence and insertions How trump's calls for pogrom and purge become "praise for executive power in imposing order"
Not even "Hamas gives back its hostages in exchange for a do-over and concessions," because that's Israel, the strictly superior military power, being *defeated* by a bunch of butchers & giving up rather than defending its citizens in their eyes, making a repeat pogrom eventually inevitable.
The manner in which Israel is conducting that war is abhorrent and criminal, even if Hamas openly proclaim they want their own civilians to die & deliberately worsens it at every turn. But that war was *going to happen*, because that's the consequence of a massive pogrom against a powerful state.
she also didn’t know what a pogrom is, must be nice!!!!
Last week I taught my therapist the word "pogrom". Ha haha ha sob
I mean-anywhere, historically? Sure! Slavery, genocide, Jim Crow... Recently? Do they mean detainee shit at the border? Extrajudicial killing of BIPOC folk by police-sure, you can call it a slow-moving pogrom, I suppose. What I really dislike is the implicit or explicit "it can't get any worse"
Like, bomb threats from MAGA chuds are bad, but it's not actually a pogrom or purge. There is in fact a difference.
fact-checking pogrom is definitely a take
