When I made them I'd layer buttery mash with scallop potato and onion.
The warm one, usually eaten in combination with blood sausage and or boiled pork/bratwurst Always served with sauerkraut and a potato component
Traditionally, the pie barm should be made with a meat and potato pie. But a butter pie works as well. Add pea wet for colour and flavour. 😁
I mean, meat and potato pies are also extremely popular in Lancashire (and very good). They're often just referred to as potato pie, which must cause some confusion for vegetarians.
