Today's historic pic: Orange and grey VLine liveried EMD streamlined diesels S313 and S310 are coupled back to back next to H1, H2 and H3 on the next track in the loco depot at Geelong, Vic, January 1 1987. Note also the open G wagon, box vans and hopper wagon at right. All these locos still exist!

On a bright sunny day beneath a blue sky we see a streamlined EMD engined cab unit diesel locomotive in orange and grey VLine livery with white and green V/ logo on its nose, sitting on a track in a locomotive depot. Attached behind it is a similar loco, and on the adjacent track to the left in the background are three hood unit diesel locos. On more tracks to the right is a collection of dark red liveried goods rollingstock including an open wagon a box van and a hopper wagon.

Today's historic pic: Westrail diesel loco Y1102 sits at Pemberton, WA, January 9, 2015. Eighteen 12-cylinder Paxman-engined Y class, built by British Thomson-Houston and Clayton Equipment Co in the UK 1953-55, were the WAGR's first mainline diesels. The last Y class units were withdrawn in 1990.

A derelict predominantly orange-liveried hood unit diesel locomotive sits attached to other disused rollingstock on an overgrown set of narrow gauge tracks in a forested rural location.
